HISTORY The Baldwin Chapel Kindergarten Building is located next to the Baldwin family home on R. C. Baldwin Avenue (formerly Olga Street) in High Point, North Carolina. The facility was built in 1969 with a $3000 investment, part of Rosetta Baldwin's inheritance from her brother, Warren, and a donation of land from her sister, Fannie Mae Thomas-Baldwin. The Kindergarten Building developed as an extension to Rosetta Baldwin's private church school, specifically to focus on children in pre-school and kindergarten. Tuition from kindergarten rolled over as a way to encourage parents to keep their children in church school. Rosetta spent the later years of her teaching career working with children in this building. Besides serving educational purposes, the Kindergarten Building also functioned as a social gathering place after church services.
